Something got into me to explore various philosophical themes of nonfiction books at a stretch. Started with Heidegger and now Derrida, I must admit that this author has delivered what they have promised to offer with less taxing excerpts. The concept of deconstruction is quite complex with un-decidability as the core which might be hard to apply the logic in the everyday stance. May be this is my personal view here, but undeniable of its application to linguistics elements. Is Derrida’s thoughts are like nihilism by any chance or a directive of transcendental solipsism. Either ways good to embrace the revolutionary thinking to succeed in a metaphysical procedure. The quote such as “Writing is a remedy for deficient memory and limited wisdom” and “As for wisdom, you offer your students a mere appearance of it, not the reality” shows his conceptual elaboration and intrusive thought seeding skills. So as an introduction this book serves right. Simply go for it without any second thoughts.

I am a big fan of Perumal Murugan books since the time of ‘Poonachi’ and this is no different from his routine outpourings. If you like some short stories than you are good with this one and be ready for the 10 tiny tales that the author had embarked. Each story is filled with country side verbiage with ample of culture and rich heritage. Wonder if the author has liberal core beliefs or disregard of the aristocratic rules. Whatever may be the reason the author has a way to offer his insights in a layman manner which is highly appreciable. The four strokes of luck is not by a hidden fortune rather backs it up by sincere efforts. Simply go for it.

STOP COMPLAINING!

Imagine being born in 1900.
When you are 14 years old
World War I begins
and it ends when you are 18
with 22 million deaths.

Shortly after, a global pandemic
The flu is called “Spanish”,
It kills 50 million people.
I come out alive and free,
You are 20 years old.

Then at 29 years, you survived the global economic crisis that started with the collapse of the New York Stock Exchange, causing inflation, unemployment, and hunger.

At 33 the Nazis come to power.
You’re 39 when WWII starts and ends when you’re 45 during the Holocaust (Shoah) 6 million Jews die.
There will be more than 60 million deaths in total.
When you’re 52 years old, the Korean War starts.
When you’re 64 starts the Vietnam War and ends when you’re 75. years

A child born in 1985 thinks his grandparents have no idea how hard life is,
and they survived various wars and disasters.
A boy born in 1995 and today at 25 years old thinks it’s the end of the world when his Amazon package takes more than three days to arrive or when he doesn’t get more than 15 “likes” for his photo posted on Facebook or Instagram…
In 2020, many of us live in comfort, have access to different sources of entertainment at home, and often have more than we need.
But people complain about everything.
However, they have electricity, phone, food, hot water, and a roof over their heads.

None of this existed before.
But humanity survived much more serious circumstances and never lost the joy of living.
Maybe it’s time to be less selfish, stop complaining and crying.

The virtue of life plays sound with a cacophony of immaturity,

Forever illumines glitter of the lord and remain silence on its purity,

Sleepless tosses and turns underground where inner reaction fears the insecurity,

Hail an active observer on the ground by escaping the phony posterity,

Thus, gloats the macro cosmic vitality!

mirror

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall,

Who is the smartest of All?

It replied saying “See Yourself”,

Do you mean reflected Self?

Ended with a cracked Mirror,

That cracked up a Terror!
